Introducing to you, "Virtual Barber Shop". This is an amazing experience of listening to sound from directions rather than from a point source; 3D Sound.

Virtual Barber Shop uses a technique called Binaural Recording. Binaural recordings are not exactly audio illusions in the sense that they do not ‘trick’ us into hearing sounds which are impossible or non existent. They are, however, extremely cool as the recordings make it sound like you are actually there, in presence of what is making the sound.

Binaural recordings are simply recordings of sounds using a special microphone setup which factors in the natural crossfeed and sonic shaping of the head and ear. This is what happens naturally when we hear a sound which is the reason why binaural recordings sound so realistic and immersive.Binaural recordings are only effective when listened to through stereo headphones. SO MAKE SURE YOU ARE LISTENING THIS USING EARPHONES!!!

How a Collar Could Help Deaf People "Hear" Music

Most of us assume deaf people can't register sound, let alone enjoy Rachmaninoff. Wrong. A conceptual device from German designer Frederik Podzuweit taps into the deaf's ability to feel music.

Music for Deaf People is a collar that converts auditory input into vibrations, triggering thesame sound-processing brain regions in those with full hearing. So instead of listening through your ears, you effectively listen through your skin. The collar has a special membrane substance, which responds to electricity, dispatching the vibrations of whatever you're playing--be it Sinatra or Sepultura--to your neck, shoulders, and collarbone. Adjustable, it fits snugly around your neck so you could theoretically wear it jogging or at the gym--never mind that it looks like something straight out of a Stormtrooper's closet. (Nerds probably think that's a good thing.)

To the uninitiated, it might seem like a nonstarter, a pointless gadget resigned to the annals of air-conditioned T-shirts and ShamWow! Why would deaf people want to "hear" music? The answer, of course, is for the same reason everyone else does: Music is one of life's enduring pleasures.

There's a lot of fascinating research into how deaf people experience music. Researchers at Ryerson University designed a chair that transmits musical vibrations along the back, turning sound into a sort of multi-sensory cheesecake. One person described it like this: “The first time I used the chair, I was blown away by the amount of information I could get about music from the vibrations. For the first time in my life, I could feel sad or happy because of how the music vibrations felt on my skin. I never felt those kinds of feelings before when music was played."

It's even possible, in certain cases, that deaf people experience music more powerfully because they can't hear; as Oliver Sacks tells it in Musicophilia, the auditory cortex might become extra-sensitive when hearing slips. Beethoven, you'll recall, was completely deaf when he composed his dazzling Symphony No. 9.

The main drawback we see in Music for Deaf People is that the collar seems terribly uncomfortable. On hot days, a big hunk of plastic is the last thing you want around your neck. Would the concept work just as well around your wrist or your bicep? If anyone has any ideas, we're all, um, ears.

Icon shop deadline date has been arranged

Icon Shop is Discobear's new menu that provides Discobear members with character icon, which symbolizes and represent him or herself at Discobear through using icons next to their nicknames. Our main objective through creating Icon Shop is to differentiate the unique individuality of our users.

Although we were successful in creating this resource, the number of selective items are not available yet. Thereby we have decided to create a deadline for this content in order for objective to be accomplished.

Icon Shop and it's content will be scheduled to be open at the very first day of moth March. 01-MAR-2011.

Underground Lab closed

As of 01/14/2011, Discobear will be closing Underground lab study for data build up.

Discobear had launched Underground lab since it's opening, However lack of data and shortage on staff called for insignificant amount of data that could not support the actual menu content standards.

Although Discobear is closing Underground lab today, please be informed that Discobear will not be closing this menu permanently. We will be coming back with this menu once we gather enough data of underground world.

I've only DJ once here at The Mayan back in 1997, and I love it. The main DJ is Joel a very good friend of mine. He's been DJ'ing for Mayans now for years !!! Going on

This place is Open: Fridays and Saturdays 9pm-3am
$10 cover b4 10:30pm even if your in line and you don't get
in by 10:30pm you still have to pay $10.00 sucks

Dress code is strict.. no sneakers, baggy clothes, ripes or holes ..YOU HAVE TO WEAR DRESS SHOES! This isn't Orange County LOL
shorts and slippers

Friday: Younger crowd, very packed, good music (like power 106 music/house), we have 3 go-go dancers eye Candy !

Saturday: My crowd older and respectful , very crowded, salsa music, live band not much hip hop go fridays for that.

Drinks are way pricey:
Beers: $7 (only budlight, corona, & heinekin)
cocktails: $9-$12 ( i suggest Drink Before You Head To Mayans )

Mayans always crowded, that can be good or bad depending on what u like. 3-levels; Latin music upstairs, Hip-hop downstairs, both rooms are very packed HOT and Sweaty. There are 3 bathrooms; One upstairs, One on the main floor, and the biggest one downstairs. Large outdoor smoking areas on both sides of the club. 7 separate bars. Coat check in the front. The detail of the entire place is beautiful.

Servers ... Friendly i don't see any issues with customer service.

Security asked for your I.D every time you head upstairs so be pre-pared it's not an Airport LOL and no Terrorist clubbing gee's who knows.

Alot of room to dance if your skinny ..... big, fat , skinny , big butt their and we're all here to have fun ! no discrimination or disrespecting ...
